MYP AREA OF INTERACTION, Human Ingenuity:

some examples of student work

The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a challenging and interesting course of study. It asks the student to take responsibility for their learning, to work and cooperate closely with others and to explore new ways of understanding and enquiring into the world around them. The MYP aims to do more than allow the student to progress in the different subjects they study. This is why the programme is founded on three main principles: holistic learning, communication and intercultural awareness. The MYP wants the learner to make connections: between subjects, between people, between how they act and how their actions affect others. Connections between the school and the wider community are important. The ultimate aim of the MYP, and our ultimate aim at the ISH, is to help the student prepare for life. In order to allow the student to explore how what they study is connected to real life, they study subjects through the five Areas of Interaction:

*** Approaches to Learning (ATL)
*** Community and Service (CS)
*** Environments (ENV)
*** Health and Social Education (HSE) *** Human Ingenuity (HI)

best wishes, on behalf of the organisers DutchNews.nl, The Xpat Journal and the International Herald Tribune

On Wednesday 16th June Miss Chew and I attended the award ceremony for the Young Writers’ Competition sponsored by The International Herald Tribune, DutchNews.nl and The Xpat Journal and held in The Haagse Lobby of the Central Library in The Hague.
It was a very pleasant venue. Miss Chew and I felt really proud of all of our winners and entrants and we are hoping that this will become a strong ISH tradition over the years.
Congratulations to our winners, who were at the prize giving, once again: Anna Begeer Year 7  (highly commended); Jonas Brekelmans Year 8  (bronze); Imara Csoti Year 12 (highly commended) and Eline Wezenbeek Year 11 (gold) all of whom were presented with a collection of their work. The medal winners were also given an extra prize and Eline read from her story.
A collection of all of the prize winners’ work will appear in the school Library shortly.
