THANK

FROM THE LIBRARY
- THANKS TO THE PARENTS ASSOCIATION

Thanks to the Parent Association we have just received a new collection of exciting titles for all ages in our Secondary Library Resource Center. As always we listen to student recommendations and purchase popular titles such as Jacqueline Wilson’s Hetty Feather or Anthony Horowitz’s newest book in the Alex Rider series.

From the teachers’ recommendations we’ve added intriguing titles to support the Theory of Knowledge, such as The Lucifer Effect: How Good People Turn Evil by Philip Zimbardo, or This is Your Brain on Music: Understanding a Human Obsession by Daniel Levitin.

We’ve also added books which have recently won or were nominated for awards. FrankCottrell Boyce’s Cosmic is a book which was short-listed for the famous Carnegie Medal as well as Black Rabbit Summer a novel by Kevin Brooks.

Another recommendation we used was the list of runner-up for the Costa Book Prize, one of the most prestigious and popular literary prizes in the UK which recognises some of the most enjoyable books of the year by writers based in the UK and Ireland. We’ve purchased Blood Red, Snow White by Marcus Sedgwick, Crusade by Elizabeth Laird, Gifted by Nikita Lalwani, and Fatty Batter: How Cricket Saved My Life (Then Ruined It) by Michael . As you can see from their covers they promise to be an enticing read. All of these books and more can be found on special display by the main desk. They are ready for borrowing or for reservation for later.

Thank you very much to the Parents Association for supporting the library and reading in this way!
