It is with tremendous sadness that we have to announce that Dr Malcolm Davies, teacher of Music at ISH and Professor at Leiden University, friend and colleague, passed peacefully away on 9 February 2010 aged 57 years. He is survived by his wife Rachel, son Llewelyn and his dear parents. He worked tirelessly for the Music he loved so much and leaves a huge legacy at The International School of The Hague where he began as a teacher of Music in 1994 but soon became Subject Area leader for the Arts.
The ISH Music School would not exist without him, and ISH Orchestra, Choirs and bands lived from his inspiration and leadership. Generations of students discovered their talent for music under his guidance. At the same time, he pursued his academic career as a Professor at the Institute for Religious Studies at the University of Leiden, last year publishing the Masonic Muse. He leaves a gap which will be impossible to fill by one person. He will always be remembered as a humble, positive authority and a friendly colleague who saw education as a priority in his life. Our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with Rachel, Lionel and his family in Wales at this time of great sorrow.
